Relief Weekend

This weekend was our annual RELIEF weekend at church. It is always an incredible privilege to be involved in sharing stories with our people. This year Jonathan shared about what proper giving looks like...giving that is built on relationships, accountability, indigenous sustainable and equity (he got the word RAISE out of that). In the FOYER we had THE WALL up and on the front you could read about where our relief money went in the last few years, and on the other side of the wall there were lot's of information about the projects we are involved in...Kristin was the main designer...and I became the chief gluer...(ask me about the day I just about passed out from glue). Anyway, it was fun....and now we pray that GOD will put on many peoples' hearts to share with our less fortunate brothers and sisters in Africa.
This weekend was also our summer team commissioning....and it is always a joy to see so many excited about the regions beyond!!

One More

Well, here is one more old picture of The Thurmans. Cute...the picture is from 1975 and we lived in a small apartment upstairs in an old house in SE Portland. Pat was a student at Multnomah and I worked at Edgefield Manor (when it was the County Nursing Home)... it was a good year!

The Truth

Well, in regards to that oldie I had you guess at....I am the gal in the back!! The others are my sisters...and then there is my Dad...poor guy, he had five daughters. It is good to know that we once were young, especially when we look in the mirror these days and wonder where the years have gone. So, for all you young ones out there, this is what we looked like...when we were young.... ...we were newly married and madly in love (still are...33 years later).

The Good Old Days

Well, this is an oldie....the questions is...who are these people?? I thought I would let you all have a guess. If you can pick out one person you know in this picture, you are good...if you can pick out two...well, you are really good!! So, have a guess!! I'll let you know next time....oh by the way, the year was 1959.

The Invitations

Yesterday we did something fun!! Over the weekend we stuffed envelopes with the invitations to our son's wedding in July....and yesterday we took them to the Bridal Veil post office...out in the Columbia Gorge! What an experience!!

Time to Move On

Well, it has been a while since I wrote....Africa was such a great experience...and therefore it has been difficult to know what else to say. But here I am again, a rainy morning in Oregon, knee deep in papers in my office, knowing full well that this is also part of what God has for me right now...but I have to honestly say, Africa was "cool"!! Wish you all could go there some day. Here is part of our team on our way..."changing planes" in north Kenya.

Africa in my heart

I am back from an amazing time in Africa! Thanks for praying! Here are a handful of the women we spent time with, teaching and having sweet fellowship. How can anything on this earth be better?? My prayer is that these women will be used as instruments for the Kingdom of God where they live!
