A Global Perspective

I have probably talked about this before on this blog.....that it is not so much where YOU are that matters, but what your HEART is all about....and when your heart has a global perspective....you can live in Gresham, and still wander the world.

Let me explain.

This morning I was putting together the weekly prayer bulletin for our church. Well, this is something I have done more or less every week for the last 11 years....(that is a lot of prayer bulletins). We call this Prayerline. Anyway, in Prayerline we publish news, notes, letters, e-mail, information, spot-lights and information from around the Globe. All for the purpose of prayer.

So, believe it or not.....on this rather cold and foggy January day I have actually "been all over". I published news from Africa, Thailand, Africa again, Slovenia, Africa two more times....and finally something from Hong Kong....That way, our people have things to pray for from around the Globe....and they are getting a Global perspective!!

Then I spent time on conversation with someone who had come home from Africa and later on this evening someone who had been to a European country for an extended period of time....both needing to talk and to debrief....then tonight, there was an e-mail from our friends in Thailand saying they had arrived safely.

So, on this Friday, I have truly circled the Globe....I did not need 80 days to do so....it happen in just a few short hours....and I never left Gresham.

In Glory

Early Saturday morning, Joan Sparks, mother of our beautiful daughter in law Amy Thurman, was promoted to Glory! May You rejoice in the Lord's presence Joan.....and May God give strength to those who are left behind.

The Day After

Today is the DAY AFTER.....yesterday was interesting to say the least......so much hope put on the shoulders of one person....but we know that our only hope is in GOD ....so our job now is to PRAY! And this is what Scripture would have us do....PRAY for those put in position of responsibility.....no matter how much it infringes on my rights, opinions and demands....our job is still to PRAY!

TODAY

Well, no matter who you are....and what your background is....what your opinion is....what you believe....today is America's Day....and being a SWEDE in this country today....it gives you an opportunity to watch with great interest....and that I am doing.

The Weekend

Oh the weekend was GREAT......so many talks with so many wonderful people....wanting to hear about opportunities around the Globe. We had a fabulous team working with us....thank you Kathy, Lisa, Todd, Pru, Janeen and Masaami....without you we could not have done this. Now our prayer is that God will continue to tug at the hearts of those we had conversations with. And pictures.....no, we did not take any. Sorry.

Sunshine and a Missions Conference

What a combination!! Waking up today....there is the SUN...well it has been out for the last few days....but this morning, I am actually just sitting here enjoying it. All while the east wind is roaring down outside. What a combination!! You want to go out, and you don't want to go out.

Later on today we will stuff the car with all our boxes and displays and off we are to the annual Mission Connexion event ....this year held in a church on the west side. We look forward to this very much as it is a time to connect, and also share about GLOBAL NEEDS with folks coming around. I hope to post pictures.

NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS

Did you make any New Years Resolutions? I always do...although I probably would not tell anyone about it. So, this year I have decided to let you know.....
My primary resolution.....

I want to be in better shape....(who doesn't?)

...physically - yes, try to loose those pounds
...emotionally - try to remember "to smell the roses"
...relationally - be kind, respectful, attentive and available to those around me
...spiritually - be more in tune with my Lord...listening to HIM through HIS WORD, be sensitive to the HOLY SPIRIT guiding me in deeds, thoughts and conversations...focusing on HIM and growing in HIM!!
