The Gift of Rest

Our kids arrived the other day. That is our son Andraus and his lovely bride of two years Amy. They brought a wonderful guest of their own...Ms Betty Mae, Amy's 87 year old Grandma. She normally lives in Fresno, CA, but was born and raised in WA.
The idea was to take Grandma back to visit the places where she spent her childhood, her school years, where she met Grandpa, fell in love, married and had children...before moving to CA.
So, Friday morning found us all packed up, ready to roll...and off we went on a very interesting road trip. And it has been GREAT.
Spending time in Goldendale at the historic society... wondering who was most facinated, the ladies at the Historic Society or Grandma? Finding the old business in Yakima where Grandma's Dad ran a Funeral Parlor, seeing the Campus in Ellensburg where she fell in love with Grandpa....and visiting Bainbridge Island where Grandpa lived as a boy, and finding the church where he gave his life to the Lord...
Some very full days indeed....and Pat and I just along for the ride!! Enjoying time with our kids, and a facinating lady of 87; seeing unbelievable scenary , discovering history, staying in beautiful places, snacking on strange things in the car, and having a lovely meal by the water in Gig Harbor ....How about that?? What more could you wish for? This was The Gift of Rest indeed. And tomorrow , the kids and Grandma go home and for us...well, it is back to work again...

What a gift given to that Grandma....that you all cared about her story enough to take her back to the places with the memories and listen and enjoy. I'm so glad you posted the pictures. Andraus and Amy are true gems!
